Friends:
Dear Harriet died yesterday morning about 11:30.  She died peacefully and quietly in one of her favorite places - the back seat of my car.  We guess she was about 14 years old.

Harriet was a foundling.  I found her at 11:00 at night, July 7, 1999. at milepost 46 on Hwy 6, out in the middle of no-where.  She was going East, and I was going West.  She had been going my direction ever since.   She was my girl for almost 7 years.  She was the nicest, gentlest dog, and it still baffles me how someone could lose a 7 year old wonderful dog and make no effort to locate them, but I guess their callousness was my blessing.

I always intended to have her certified as a Canine Good Citizenship dog, and do pet therapy gigs with her, but I never followed through with the certification process.  Harriet, however, naturally took to the idea of being a canine emissary, and everywhere she went, and with all of my clients in my office, she spread goodwill and doggie devotion.  I even made her business cards, and gave her a "title."  Harriet Fitts-Freeman, BRC (Bonafide Relaxation Champion).  A specialist in all aspects of Canine Leisure.   She touched a lot of lives, and I miss her terribly.

In her memory if you would like to make a donation, large or small, to Indigo Rescue, please click on the link. And if that doesn't work for you, please consider donating time or energy or money to some other cause that benefits animals, and think of Harriet's sweet face while you do!

Click on Urhwyn's photo to read more about him.Harriet spent the last 5 months training Urhwyn Digger O'Dell as my new office assistant.  He's probably a LHD (long haired daschund) Corgaussiesheltie mix, and he takes over the collar from Harriet very sweetly.  He's been a little sad since she died, but in true doggie fashion he seems to understand the value of kisses and hugs to get through rough times.  Yeah Urhwyn!  She did a great job teaching him office etiquette, and so far he's been making Harriet proud.

If you know of mutual acquaintances that adored Harriet, please pass this on.

Love never dies.  Woof.
